Grading Papers

The more I shift how the class works, the less grading feels anxious, torturous, depressing.

Going over their lesson plans not only gives me much further insight into how the kids compress their data, but also space to offer suggestions or new ideas as payment for such vulnerability.

Seeing them interact in the classroom, them engaged and excited, bored and befuddled, nervous and flustered, angered and peeved, I enjoy the work I do.

I know one day they'll take even this away from me, but if I can cement this art into an institution, then maybe there's a chance it'll carry my name along until names no longer mean nor record.
